I too feel that Rahman should stop composing music for "commercial" films. He will have a lot of restrictions when he's composing for movies.
For example, Rahman has mentioned in many occasions that he loves composing melody no.s. Many here will agree that MOST of his best songs (not necessarily commercially hit. example.. songs of meenaxi) are melodies. But he cannot have many melodies in a commercial film. So, he should start doing albums. He will have lot of freedom. Now that he has become popular after oscars, I am sure that his albums will also become hit
