ye-catching first impression

By Taran Adarsh, August 11, 2009 - 08:32 ISTFirst impression counts. No wonder,
film-makers ensure that the first promo of their film creates the maximum
impact. The promo of BLUE does exactly that. The promo of this
keenly-anticipated fare makes a stunning impact, not just because it stars some
of the biggest names in the business [Sanju, Akshay, Katrina, Lara, Zayed], but
also because of its backdrop. It's shot underwater, amidst sharks.

The film has an international feel and its makers, Shree Ashtavinayak, should
capitalise on its theme and take it beyond the Indian diaspora, when they plan
its release strategy.

On the other hand, the first promo of MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA brings back memories
of Hrishikesh Mukherjee movies. Soft and simplistic, the promo exudes a lot of
freshness. Of course, the first promo features Salman, Kareena and Sohail only
[not Preity], but the glimpses make it pretty evident that the film looks at
a pati, his patni and a woh. MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA has been extensively shot in
Melbourne, Australia.

Incidentally, both BLUE and MAIN AUR MRS. KHANNA are directed by first-time
directors - Anthony D'Souza and Prem Soni, respectively.
