1. For me "Pudhiya Mugam" is the film where I had the huge huge expectation and it surpassed it in leaps and bounds. Guys, I belong to Aug 15, 1992 cadre of ARR fan school. Afte Roja and after knowing that ARR is not a 60+ oldie but a 23 year old lad who is just few years elder than me, I had expectations on Pudhiya Mugam, like anything. Infact for no other film I had such a high expectations till today. ARR was still relatively less known among my circles and those days cassettes where the ones which carried ARR songs. I know how I pestered my Audio shop walla regarding this film, when he did not even know what I was talking about again and again. I did not have permission to spend Rs. 50 for just 6 songs in a cassette . So I decided that I will spend Rs. 18 in recording PM songs along with Anna Malai (I am a Rajni fanatic also), Chembaruthi and etc, in one of my old and empty TDK cassette. I remember, that after noon when brother (3 year younger)was waiting near railway station for me just to tell me that the music is mind blowing. He had heard it hours before me. I can still recollect the kind of feeling I had while listeing to PM a sense of reassurance that indeed ARR whom I started adoring is indeed a genius.
"Netru illadha maatram" to me is the best ever ARR song. Best ever. "Thee Thee", "Enuyir Thozhi" all would come next , but this song for me is some thing that has gone deep into my soul. 2. The album that disappointed me the most is "E20U18". The media reports and hype around this movie did not justify the end product. AM Ratnam shouldn't have hyped it so much. For me, number 1 - Delhi 6 (blew me away, way beyond what I expected) For me, number 2 - Mangal Pandey (it's not a bad soundtrack, just that my expectations were too huge)
