This thought has come to my mind also. Earlier phases I could not define
for myself, but yeah, there was the initial "not yet confident" phase,
even Rangeela had that feel that he was trying to find his ground. All
those dubbings from Tamil to Hindi with hammered in, lip synced lyrics
also added to that feel. Even Rangeela had one of his Khel Khiladi ka
song hindi-ised.

He found his ground in about Dil Se onwards, and that was "confident"
ARR visible in all his album ever since.

Blue also seems genetically different for all earlier albums of ARR. I
would not put Delhi 6 as the start of this phase because ARR has also
given such one at a time, off beat albums earlier also, like Water,
Zubaida, Bose, which didn't start any new trend/ phase. And Delhi 6
could have a heavy influence from a musically aware director who might
have given his input about what type of songs he requires.

But Blue is different. Several additions, changes, experiments - all in
one go. It is getting him new fans and some of his earlier fans are
trying to acclimatize themselves with this new genre of product, while
several earlier fans are liking this album as much for this new type of
content as they are liking it sensing this NEW ARR.

It could be his confidence getting another huge boost by Oscars and
other international awards and recognition, and the big budget of Blue,
the genre of movie, the cast, all enabled him to go this far, all in one go.

So I think Blue is indeed start of a new phase in our man's "style".

I also feel that Ravan still might not be an album of this new phase as
he might still not want to do too much experimentation for his dear
mentor's movies, and Ravan was in his mind even before oscar, but Blue
came in after Oscar basically. I don't know, just my thoughts going that
way.

It would be interesting to see/ hear Shankar choreographing our man's
new style.

Long live our man whichever phase he is in.

Thanks.
