What Bala said was his films doesn't require ARR's music...which I think he
meant in a positive way.

The simple reason why I love ARR's music more than anyone else is because of
the majestic and grandiose feel he manage to bring out in his music. His music
is grand, at most times, grander than the films itself. Does scripts like Enaku
20 Unaku 18, Tajmahal, Boys, Yuvaraj or Sakarakatti deserve the songs they've
had? I don't think so. The scripts were bad and the only time people actually
refer to these movies...it's because of the wonderful songs the films had.

Bala on the other hand tend to be come out with a more serious, rustic and
down-to earth films packed with hard-hitting scripts. I'm not saying that Bala
doesn't give importance to music but I feel that music does not play a central
role in his films. The songs and bgm complement the script and that's about it.
In fact, when you come out from the cinemas after watching a Bala's film, you
tend to look at his film as a whole...there's no special reference to the music
alone. It's sort of like, even without the music, his film can stand alone but
it's not the other way around. And that's why he doesn't require ARR's music.

But now that he wants to work with ARR, it just goes on to show that finally,
music is going to play a central role in his film. It's definitely going to be
different this time...with grander music...

it seems the next project of Bala is a comedy film. I dont
know how this is going to work out, Bala+Comedy is just something i couldnt
think of. Bala is such a classy director, hope he does a classy movie with
A.R.Rahman someday.
