*Chief guest Seetharaman and DPS-MIS School officials holding the school magazine ‘Grandeur’*DPS-Modern Indian School recently celebrated its ninth annual day at Doha Cinema. The two-day celebration was a tribute to India and A R Rahman, the only musician to have won two Oscars in the same year. Senior students presented ‘Yeh Shaam Rahman ka Naam’, a series of songs composed by A R Rahman in different languages. They performed various dances set to the popular tunes from Indian films as well as patriotic songs. Junior students received proficiency awards. Lizera V Vallany and Shruti Srinivasan received special awards for outstanding achievements in sports. Meera Haridas and Trishita Bhattacharjee received Kanjani Award for good performance in Class X examination of 2008. Doha Bank CEO R Seetharaman was the chief guest on the first day. DPS-MIS patron Aisha Mohammad H S al-Abdulla, school officials president Hasan Chogule, vice president Rocky Fernandes, joint secretary Harish Kanjani, joint treasurer Azim Abbas and others were present. On the second day Indian Ambassador Deepa Gopalan Wadhwa was the chief guest. Junior students presented Maa Tuje Salaam, a musical tribute praising India’s cultural diversity and communal harmony. As is customary in DPS schools worldwide, ‘Blue School Blazers’ are awarded to students receiving scholar badges for three consecutive years. The ‘Blue Tie’ is awarded to students who have been scholars for four consecutive years and gold medal to those who have been scholars for five consecutive years.
