A landmark film?An international feel... that’s what the makers of Ajith’s next
are striving forBHAMA DEVI RAVI Times News Network

Three of Kollywood’s happening men met on Sunday in a hush hush locale.
Gautham Menon, whose VTV opened to rave reviews, Dayanidhi Alagiri, whose
Tamizh Padam is turning into a sleeper hit, and actor Ajith, who is hitting the
gym in a big way, met to discuss Ajith’s 50th film. Dayanidhi Alagiri and Vivek
Rathinavel, the producers of Ajith’s 50th film and its director Gautham, want
the film to be a ‘milestone’. “We want it to have an international feel and
appeal to all strata of society. Most of the shooting will take place abroad.
Landmark films like this do not happen very often .And, it will be unlike Billa
or Aasal,” said a source.
A R Rahman, whose tunes in VTV are a huge hit, has been confirmed as the
music director. Shooting will commence on October 1. Ajith, who has hit the gym
to get into shape for the F2 European challenge, will be away from Chennai from
March, and is reportedly excited about the forthcoming motor event which will
go on till October. The actor, we hear, wants to be an ambassador for the sport
in India. Meanwhile, the producers and the director are working on other
logistics, including finalising the heroine.
Ajith, who had been caught in a controversy over his remark that stars were
being forced to take part in sensitive social and political issues, has
reportedly put the issue behind him. He is now focussed on shedding close to 20
kg, and is also firming up his neck muscles to withstand the strain of taking
part in the F2 European Challenge. Ajith, who walked away from the motor sport
six years ago due to injuries, now wants to make a comeback and straddle both
motorsport and cinema.
Gautham is known to ensure that every actor looks the part, and Ajith wants
to deliver a hit. Rahman, we hear, is excited about the project, and one can
look forward to a film in which the music (the lyrics of which will be penned
by Thamarai) will also be a hallmark. Gautham, who is likely to finalise the
heroine by Wednesday, is apparently looking for someone who will look classy
and yet strike a chord, as Sameera Reddy did in Vaaranam Aayiram, and Jyotika
and Kamalinee Mukherji in Vettaiyadu Vilayadu.
