How ironic that you bring this topic up now :) I was just listening to Munbe
Vaa (Sillunu Oru Kadhal) today and thought about how its prelude music used to
bring a smile to my face everytime it was played. One might think that the
feeling might have varied as time goes by, but surprisingly after four years
the prelude still manage to bring back the happiness it once invoked. Munbe Vaa
might not have the best prelude but it certainly is one of my favourite.

Nevertheless, my all time favourite intro has to be Chinna Chinna Aasai of
course. No words can express the wonderful feelings the prelude brings. Just
mindblowing!

Favourite ending:
It's a little hard to decide which...but I would definitely place Rehna Tu at
the top of the list.  The unconventional ending with the wonderful usage of
continuum fingerboard will never go unnoticed.

There's also Kulirudhu Kulirudhu from Tajmahal which I revisited lately (thanks
to Arvind for the wonderful writings on the album) and which I felt has one of
the most amazing postlude. In fact, I would consider the whole song as an
absolute gem. The string pieces at the beginning and end of the song are just
soulful and heartrending! You really got to hear it to feel the passion in this
number.

More to come...

Which are your favorite ARR song intros and endings?

I think I've nailed mine:

Favorite Beginning:

Tied:

Pacchai Nirame - The voice chorus followed by the flute and acoustic guitars
creates some of the most heavenly feelings...a pure sunshine fantasy that just
takes me away from the getgo.

Taal Se Taal Mila - The way the water drops build up with Sukhi's Taranas then
the rhythms, flutes, ghungrus all culminating into this amazing, mesmerizing
groove...just puts me in awe everytime I hear it!!!

Favorite Ending:

This one is easy.....Satrangi Re from Dil Se. I sit stunned every time that
song ends....just in pure bliss, beyond time and space...the way Sonu goes
high....the flute...the chords....the haunting effects....the bells....the fade
out...BY FAR....the best ending I've ever heard in almost ANY song.....PURE
BLISS AND MAGIC!
