Album: Raavan
Music: A. R. Rahman
Lyrics: Gulzar

Rating: 9 on 10

Beera

Vocals: Vijay Prakash, Mustafa Kutoane

Its the most appealing track in the album and already an instant hit from the
trailers...

It describes the hero of the movie 'Raavan', 'Beera' or as Gulzaar calls one
with 'dus maathe'

Starts on an awesome note and continues on constant beats added with rehmaan's
african fusion...

Reminds me of Omkara's title track...Carry the same lyrical prowess by Maestro
Gulzaar..

Vijay Prakash has substituted Sukhvinder with his power punched voice...

Thok de Killi

Vocals: Sukhwinder Singh, Am'Nico

This is again a powerful track with some scintillating vocals by Sukhwinder...

Very youthful and gutsy song... It is filled with lots of passion and the 'do
or die' philosophy like 'Chale Chalo' of Lagaan...

Flavour of music reminds of dhakka laga bukka type yuva enthusiasm and this one
moves us inside out...

Love Gulzaar for using phrases like bhakad billi...uda de gilli...udaye
khilli...

Awesome work by him...

Ranjha Ranjha

Vocals: Rekha Bhardwaj, Javed Ali

This is Rehman's musical masterpiece with varied instruments at work...

It is surely flawless and glues you to its magic...

Gulzaar opens up his kitty of words. He comes up with words like heer-ranjha,
kundan-chandan etc and mixes up pretty well...

Javed and Rekha's duet ends up as another number for Rekha to add in her
feather...

Rekha's rendition reminds her style as in Namak Ishq ka of Omkara....

Behne De

Vocals: Karthik,Mohammed Irfan

A beautiful song where Gulzaar comes up with some motivational lines ...

W8ing eagerly for the movie where it will fit in..

Karthik is given full scope to justify his vocals with clarity which he indeed
does beautifully...

Emotion resembles songs like 'Banjar hai sab banjar hai' of Saathiya or 'Mujhe
Rang de' of Legend of Bhagat Singh...

Khili Re... Raat Ki Raani

Vocals: Reena Bhardwaj

Its like a fresh bunch of flowers on a beautiful girl's hair...

Song blossoms up with Gulzaar's poetic words like Khili,Kohra,baasuriya...
It is set in the Meera-Krishna devotional mood...
Its set on a slow pace and seems like rehman's gift to Reena bhardwaj and she
leaves us serene and calm indeed..

It reminds the same divinity as in 'Yeh rishta kya kehlata hai' of Meenakshi
sung by Reena...

Kata Kata

Vocals: Ila Arun, Sapna Awasthi, Kunal Ganjawala

It sounds like wedding song sung by friends teasing the grooom...
Gulzaar adds to the fun mood with words like
bechara,saas-sasura,jeth-jethani,joru-kanya-dulhe-miya...
Mood wise its a very happening song with lots of percussion used..

Rehman keeps the control and for this song and lots will depend on how well it
gels into the movie...

Rehmaan's style of music takes its own time to grow on you ...

And please don't compare it with early Mani-Rehmaan works as every movie album
should gel with the movie's theme...And this one is a take on Raavan of
Ramayan, a man with conflicts of good and evil and is set in a backdrop of vast
jungle...

So please don't expect a Tere bina beswadi ratiya or Saathiya or Tu hi re as
Raavan is not about romance...Or any light mood peppy nos. like Kabhi Kabhi
Aditi...

But you can find a powerfull Beera Beera and the effervescent Ranjha with the
puristic Khili Re to leave you mesmerizing...
