*Civic activist proposes tune to be aired on television and radio on the
lines of popular jingles*

Though the Right to Information Act (RTI) came into effect in Maharashtra
in 2005, there have hardly been any efforts to promote the use of RTI from
the state government. With a view to popularise the use of the RTI Act, a
city-based civic activist has proposed that the state government come up
with a signature tune for RTI that could be aired in the audio-visual media.

The state government, too, seems to have given a favourable response to the
proposal, as the Finance Department of the state has initiated the process
of setting aside money for this purpose.

Civic activist Vihar Durve has tabled this idea of coming up with a
signature tune on the lines of jingles of the popular brands that are aired
on television and radio.* He has suggested that the government rope in music
maestro A R Rahman for composing this tune and senior RTI activists like
Anna Hazare and Aruna Roy*
