[image: shammi_pic_400]Shamsher Raj Kapoor a.k.a Shammi Kapoor the living
legend of Indian cinema gave a new definition to acting with evergreen
charisma. He fluttered millions of hearts with super-stylish moves and
strike chords with one and all with his versatile and powerful roles.

He was always ahead of his times and also ventured in to making movies like
Manojan which very well refleted his thoughts about life. This Kapoor has a
fascination for Internet and knows inside out about the medium since its’
inception.

In this interview, he talks about Shammi Unplugged, the video blogs on
internet which were recently released and his life so far.
*
Now that Shammi Kapoor is all over internet with video blogs Shammi
Unplugged…when is it that we get to see you on big-screen?*
Well, that would be asking for too much like God himself. I don’t think I
would ever to comebacks but yes, through the medium of video blogs I’ll be
able to share my feelings with one and all.
*
Have you ever thought of writing an auto-biography or will you begin in near
future?*
No, the idea of writing an auto-biography has never and will never cross my
mind for I’m a private person. I don’t wat to share each and every aspect of
my life with people. Neither, would I like to tamper with my own life
incidents. So, I’m better off to remain in my cocoon. Like even in Shammi
Unplugged, I have been given the liberty of how deep down I’m willing to go
while expressing my feelings.
*
So, tell us about Shammi Unplugged?*
Shammi Unplugged is a video blog which is bifurcated into episodes of
special incidents of my life which I would like to share with people who
have loved me all these years.*

You are heard to be very well-versed with internet..tell us about your
association with it?*
Well, I’m aware of internet when it hadn’t even reached India. I learnt it
in U.S and since then have a wonderful association with it. Internet is no
doubt a very powerful medium but more so, it has given me immense happiness
by connecting with those who I have never thought I would ever meet. I have
mentioned about one such incident in one of these episodes when I received
an e-mail from my childhood friend Afzal whom I hadn’t heard since 50 years.
My happiness knew no bounds when I heard from him after long time.
*
It has been heard that you always insisted for Mohd.Rafi’s voice for your
songs. Is it true?*
No not at all. I never had preferences. It was a pure-coincidence that
Mohd.Rafi would sing my song. But I must say which is a universal truth now-
he had a magical voice whch suited my style.
*
Also, you have won various accolades for your energy level as an
actor….where did you draw this inspiration from?*
I was always influenced by myself. I believed in myself and worked hard. I
would always be my natural self and would never be choreographed for any of
my songs. As far as my enegy level is concerned, I loved my work and that
would display in my work.
*
Do you see the same kind of energy in present lot of actors? *
Oh yes, there are so many from Aami, Shahruk, Hrithik to Ranbir. They all
are so good.
*
Any anecdote of the times when internet was launched since you have been
active on it?*
Well, I remember when Yahoo.com was launched, Randhir Kapoor misunderstood
the site belonged to me because the yahoo factor. I was taken by surprise
and replied to his enquiry saying if I would have been a part of it, I would
be sitting in America with loads of money.
 *
What is that one thing you like and dislike about current tend of Indian
cinema? *
I think the technology which has given Indian filmmakers to match up to the
standars of Hollywood. I was amazed to see Avatar. The way the concept was
conceived, technology thought and built up was something worth watching. I
think even Bollywood can reach that far and is doing its best at this level
too. As far as drawback is concerned, I think music. In our days, music
would be melodious to the core. However, music doesnot hold any meaning among
the filmmakers today. Th music is made for the heck of it.
*
What do you think is the reason behind it?*
About music I don’t know, ask A.R Rahman.
