Am listening to 'Vedam' movie songs (telugu). Shehnai is used in an emotional song "Malli puttani.." It is so touching and reminded me of "Yeh jo desh hai.." from Swadesh where shehnai was used. Leader (telugu) theme instrumental was again shehnai version. It was such an amazing song. I think Rahman made it more popular by using in emotional /patriotic songs as well as with innovative usage in other songs like chiggy wiggy etc
By the way, Vedam telugu movie is an excellent film. Highly recommend it! -- Praveen
