Raavan was no average flare, in my opinion. Was more appealing to me than VTV and VTV was a great album! Just my two cents.

I was coming back from the B'lore airport last night and the playlist switched songs from an old composition (Sridhar times) to the most recent ones Blue, Pulli etc...and I felt exactly the same!! Many of the recent compositions are becoming noisy and needless extra techno-sounds - the balancing of instruments, layers is only visible in the melody oriented songs. That way Couples Retreat is far superior than some of the recent albums. I guess ARR is in a major experimenting mode these days - not just with his compositions but also with his entire team. But the gaps are well filled in by Amit, Anandh and Mithoon...!
