good one again AJ. Your perspective is amazingly refreshing ! Keep it up bud.

Let me share another thing that hit me in AR's interview for the music launch
of
Komaram Puli. He started off by saying Surya approached him etc., and that his
goal was to do a typical telugu movie and give a telugu sound but at the same
time have AR's integrity. A deep and profound thought process is revealed in
such a low-key comment. He could have said, hey this is a telugu masala movie,
let me do just that. Or he could have said, I am an Oscar winner, I will give
oscar class music. Doing either one was easy. But doing both is phenomenal. He
is considerate enough and kind enough to do a telugu masala movie music but at
the same time not let go of his musical beliefs.

Now my friends, to understand the true brilliance of the man and his music,
this
is a gold standard. And this same standard has to be applied to understand the
worth Komaram Puli's music. This is the criteria I would apply on how I would
judge and review/rate komaram puli's music

Subject: [arr] Revisited Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na

As Abbas T's next "Jhoota He Sahi" approaches with music by ARR, the same team
that worked on Jaane Tu, I revisited Jaane Tu and found the musical experience
to be just as refreshing and bright as when I first heard the album. I still
love that album for many reasons.

I feel that Jaane Tu was a necessary album in ARR's career to showcase how he
can score music for a relatively light, mainstream, romcom film without
compromising on class. Yes, the music is lighter and more poppish than what
we're used to hearing from ARR, and for some people, it was a turn off. But,
to
me, it showcased, once again, ARR's incredible versatility as a musician to
know
when to put the brakes on......light treatment to musical arrangements, reduced
instrumental density, more breathing room to the songs, more conventionally
structured songs with hummable melodies. And yet, the music to me had that
unmistakable ARR stamp without musical acrobatics.........and to me....that is
the genius of ARR........his signature can be felt in more subtle, lighter
forms
without the need for high octane musical adventurism. For me, knowing when to
put the "musical brakes" on is a hallmark of a true genius artist, as ARR has
shown before too through minimalism. But, this was minimalism in a more
poppish
and less spiritual form and to me, it hit the bullseye within that genre. And
boy did the music take off with the youth!!! CDs sold like hotcakes and the
music went on to win awards. Other MDs too raved about the soundtrack.

The production and sound value of Jaane Tu was brilliant to me too. The
arrangements were crisp and bright.

My favorites on that album are Kabhi Aditi, Jaane Tu (Both male and female),
Kahin To, and Tu Bole. Tu Bole had the most amazing trumpet improv jazz that
totally blew me away when I first heard it. That song is one of my
favorites!!!
