Most of us forgot one point. The CWG theme songs have always been this way

Listen to Delta Goodrem's - Together We Are One. Its even slower than our
Rahman's theme for 2010. Knowing this, our panelists and media made a huge
noise
of not being close to Waka Waka.

Heres the video for 2006 theme song
 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNsrzw8T4U4

Btw Waka Waka is effectively part remix. It's sampled out of an old African
song
called zanglewa and has the same chorus lines

See the thing is. Common Wealth Games, Asiad Games and even olympics are more
to
maintain international diplomacy and sporting culture. It is not an
'international contest' in the sense that world cup football or cricket is.
Hence creating public euphoria by making a dance hall theme song is not the
purpose. Atleast thats not how it has been for such things..

Heres the theme song for Asiad Games 1982 held in New Delhi

So, Rahman's anthem is in-line with the pace and purpose of such games as they
have always been. Media has just gone mad this time...thats all
