The other thing to remember if you DO install Crystal 9 is that the version of MSDE it installs, 1.0 which equals SQL Server 7.0 unpatched, is "Code-Red-Ready" until you apply SP4 for MSDE 1.0 so make sure that you don't do this on a machine that is accessible to the network.

P.S. I am STILL trying to get Crystal Server XI to install properly on Win2K3 with an existing SQL Server 2000 instead of MSDE (otherwise it wants to install MSDE 2000 Sp3) so that I can enforce Windows-only authentication.  I prefer not to even allow SQL Server authentication.  Business Objects has not been able to figure out why their installer fails in this environment, and does not install as documented.

Here it is. The portion I remembered was: Therefore, Windows 2003 server is supported for CE 9 components but is not supported as a web server for CE 9.

Q U E S T I O N

Crystal Reports 9.0 - Are Crystal Decisions products supported in a Windows 2003 Server?

A N S W E R

-----This extract taken from the "support.businessobjects.com" Website-----

Yes, the following Crystal Decisions products are supported in a Windows Server 2003:

· Crystal Reports 9

· Crystal Reports for Visual Studio .Net 2003

· Crystal Enterprise 9*

====================
* IMPORTANT:

There are two important exceptions to note when planning to deploy Crystal Enterprise (CE) 9 on a Windows 2003 platform:

• CE 9 does not support Internet Information Services (IIS) 6 as a web server.
Therefore, Windows 2003 server is supported for CE 9 components but is not supported as a web server for CE 9.

• CE 9 ships with Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) 1.0 which Microsoft does not support on Windows 2003.
You will receive the following error when installing CE 9 APS on Windows 2003 Server, however the install will complete successfully:

"SQL Server 7.0 is incompatible with this version of Windows."

I seem to recall a KB entry that stated Crystal Enterprise 9 will not work with Windows 2003 Server with IIS. I'll see if I can locate it.

I am attempting to configure Crystal 9 for use with ARS 6.3 and Mid-Tier 6.3.  All running on Windows 2003 with SP1.  When I attempt to launch the report from the web I get an IIS error of 404.  Crystal is installed on the same server as the Mid-Tier.

Any help is greatly appreciated.  I have followed the docs from BMC, but still no luck.  The reports work fine from the WUT.

Thanks,
