Hi Jason,
First off, date/time fields do NOT show the server time by
default. Date/time values are displayed in the format of the client OS,
unless otherwise specified in the locale settings in the user
preferences/options. However, any messages or e-mail notifications
generated by filters/escalations will display date/time fields according to the
server date/time properties, since filter/escalation workflow is executed on the
server.
Also, the time zones listed in the locale tab in the user
prefs do NOT read from the OS (they are hard-coded in the client), but the
Windows client will read the time zone from the OS if the locale setting is left
blank. This is the default setting, and is usually preferable to setting a
custom time zone in the locale tab, since it does not automatically adjust for
daylight saving changes.
On my Win XP SP2 machine, I have all of the following
(GMT±XX:30) time zones listed as options in the Date/Time
properties:
(GMT-03:30) Newfoundland
(GMT+03:30) Tehran (GMT+04:30) Kabul (GMT+05:30) Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi (GMT+06:30) Rangoon (GMT+09:30) Adelaide (GMT+09:30) Darwin (No Daylight Saving) Is the user located in one of these time zones? As long
as the user has the time zone set correctly in Windows to one of the time zones
listed above, and has the locale time zone setting left blank in the Remedy
client, then date/time values should be displayed properly according to his
local time.
HTH,
Thomas
