Axton, you're right.  Although I'm not an expert (we haven't even purchased AR yet), I just took the CMDB admin class a month ago.  Anytime classes or attributes are added to the CDM (Common Data Model), the class manager should be used.  It is aware of all relationships between classes and will update everything as needed.  The Admin tool is not aware of those relationships.

The simplest example that pops into my head is when someone updates a class that has subclasses beneath it.  If you simply add fields to that class's form using the Admin tool, those fields are not available in the subclasses' forms.  Admin simply saves the changes to the form and is finished.  Using the class manager however, the changes are applied to the CDM and, because the class manager is aware of the relationships between classes, the new field (a field is actually called an attribute when working with the class manager) is made available to all of the subclasses.

I don't have much practical experience with the CMDB, but shouldn't you
use the class manager to add additional attributes?  Won't this address
adding the field to all the appropriate forms?
