T, I would hope that this condition is not a performance issue. If it is then think about what shared workflow must be like for performance. Every Active Link running on multiple forms is likely to stumble on to this condition. (Unless all of your forms have the same set of fields that are only used by your shared workflow.)
If you check the client Active Link logs You will actually see that the "field" is set but there is a note that it does not exist on the current form. Then the processing just keeps going. So I doubt it is a real problem.
