No it uses the API. I just do it for safety (or maybe habit from 5x). Some people that run a load balancer do not use server groups so it is just an extra step for piece of mind.

I thought that running the arsignal command if defs change or meta data changes through the API layer is not necessary, at least its not necessary for us as the server group logs clearly show that the primary server signals the rest of the servers in the server group that a change has occurred, and that the secondary servers ought to re-read the cache. At least that's the case with ARS 6.3 using the supposedly newer method to set up load balanced servers...
So assuming you are using this method, does this mean that the migrator bypasses the AR Systems API layer?
