Jason, We actually spent over a month trying to get HD v6 to install and going back and forth with technical support trying to figure out what was wrong. As it turns out it is an UNDOCUMENTED REQUIREMENT for ITSM that you ENABLE Multiple Assign Groups. ( We also have custom apps that have never used this feature, so we disabled it after the upgrade to the v6.3 ARS server. (from v4 where that was never an option) Long story short... WE finally figured out the problem based on a half hearted comment by technical support about a data row that should have been imported with two groups in field 112!. Apparently the ITSM apps need this feature. So I think you have to leave it on, or suffer the errors. :( Maybe you could rewrite it, but I doubt it would be worth the effort.
