Works fine on Oracle. You need Full Text Search (FTS), though. It's pretty well-documented, but essentially you need to purchase FTS licenses, allocate them to appropriate users (Full Text License Type), and index desired fields for FTS (field Properties, Database page, note checkbox - Index For FTS).
Also noteworthy, contents of diary fields that have been indexed for FTS
are "visible" to workflow. This can be a good or bad thing.
