Chris:
Check if the JRE was installed. Tomcat (and Mid-Tier by default) need it. Also make sure that you have a JAVA_HOME and that the Java program's location is in your PATH (this also applies to Windows.)

Asking for some feedback on what version of Java SDK you have installed.
I installed Java EE SDK 5 (and Tomcat 5) but when I try to install Mid-tier it tells me that no compatible SDK was found.
Do I need the older version 1.4 SDK instead ?
