3 things

Your %s are on the wrong side of the $, you need to double quote the "
(so it will appear in the string), and you only need the \ for keywords

Try: "'536870940' LIKE ""%$\USER$%"" "

For building an External I usually start by creating the query in the
Advanced Search bar and then having an Active Link set that to a
character field

Subject: Question: External

I'm trying to create a "console" where users can select various queries.

To do this I am trying to user the External command.

I am using an active link to set fields to a character field:

" '\536870940' LIKE "$\%USER%$" "

The manual says to use \

Problem is now the set fields is setting the field with the \ in it.

This is my first time doing this and i'm a little confused.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
