I assume you are using CSS.
Don't you have the New Customer Button where you can add a contact and add 
phone,etc all at once.
Ours is located one each Console and issue form.

Hello listners, 

Has anyone customised SHARE:Contact? 
We want to minimise the steps for creating contact. 

Right now, user has to create Contact, relate/create address, 
relate/create email, relate/create phone, set it primary and then save. 

Can they enter address,email and phone on 3 fields and code will relate it 
in background. 

Has anmyone done something like this? or any other ideas?
