Title: arslist Digest - 20 Sep 2006 to 21 Sep 2006 - Special issue (#2006-384)
**

We use the Action Program Manager from PRI. While all our remedy apps are homegrown, this is the only module we have purchased, to date, and has been working just fine.

It can be used out of box as is…the only customization you would need, at a high level, is to define an approval method and standardized templates for the tasks associated with the main project. We use it for Network Engineering projects, Voice Technology projects, Market Data technology projects, and Server Provisioning projects.

Support is good, always there when you need them. But quite honestly, after our initial deployment back in 2000, we have hardly had to use them, as the out of box capabilities never gave us any trouble, and, hey, its Remedy, and built on ARS, so any customization, other than to source code, obviously, you can do yourself without any worries. We have used their support for upgrades and license changes with no problem. And if you upgrade ARS, you do not necessarily have to upgrade APM at the same time. We had upgraded from 4.0 to 6.3 without upgrading APM. And no issues…

We have not used it on the web, but all other workflow, including Time Tracking (or time manager I believe it is called now), we use throughout the org. All employees within our specific org have used Time Tracking to track their projects, and other standalone work not necessarily related to an APM project.

This along with the capability to hook into other remedy workflow and be able to automate task creation/closure based upon other workflow, and the metrics that can be provided out of box that make it easy to see what tasks take long to do, and why, better enable you to improve SLA. At least it has for us.

The other nice thing about this is that you get to use your regular ARS licenses, and not have to buy separate licenses for a specific module. So, if cost is a factor, this should play in.

So, thumbs up here. Any questions, feel free to contact me off list.

Paul

We are specifically looking for:

Were you able to use it out of the box without much customization?

How was their support?

Did they provide enhancements/fixes in a timely manner?

We had a demo but they showed it to us running in 5.0.  Did it run in version 6.3 or greater without much trouble?

How did some of their custom stuff work on the web?  Etc.

Thanks,

Sean

Hello listers,

I just wanted to know if anyone out there is using some programs from a Vendor called Project Remedies Inc. I am specifically looking for feedback on

IT Project Portfolio Manager (IT PPM) & ActionProgram Manager (APM)

Wanted to know how long you have had it and what version you are running it and any other pros or cons.

Thanks,

Salah Himmo
