Do you want the new Application Server to help improve performance of the
existing applications, or was the goal to have a second set of applications on the
same database server, which would mean a second instance of Remedy in the database?

Darren's answer is correct for the former, and for the latter there is a different answer.

The settings for Server Group etc. change depending on the goal of having a Server Group,
so a bit more detail would help even there?

You should use the new “Server Group” feature that was introduced in ARS 6.x.  What this does is it automatically manages two application servers that point to a single database.  We currently are using this feature with a hardware load balancer with AR 7.0.  Since they changed the whole documentation scheme in 7.0 I’m not sure off the top of my head where to look for this in the 6.x docs but look for “Server Group”.  Good luck.

Subject: Reg: Pointing to Same Database Server from Two Application Server
Importance: High

Hi List,

I need your help again. My present configuration is:

One Database server with MSSQL

One Application Server with ARS 6.3

One Web server.

These servers are all up and working fine in Production environment. My new requirement is to set up a new Application server which should point to the existing Database server. Please let me know, what might be the minimum settings I need to make to get this server up.

Thanks & Regards,
