Title: Re: multiple attachments in pool on mid tier? (solved, kinda)
**

Hi Craig,

OK, I know I said I was gonna drop the investigation because it was not my application but you were SO positive about it that I could not resist exploring further.

In case it was a browser thing (had only tried it on Win XP Pro & IE 6.0), I tried it in Netscape 7.2 under Mac OS X. There I was able to discern a thin - only a few pixels - uncolored line directly above the first row in the pool after the first attachment was added. With very careful positioning of the mouse pointer, I was able to select that far-too-thin line and add another attachment. The thin line then appeared above the bottom-most attachment row until the last attachment row was used. The original attachment remained lowest among attachments in the pool throughout.

I then tried it with Firefox 2.0 under Win XP Pro & saw what are apparently 5, one for each allowable attachment, thin lines of alternating lighter & darker color (a la green-bar line-printer paper, in case you remember that). Though thin, they are discernable and only just differentiable from one another.  Firefox even displayed the attachments in the relative position in which I added them.

I went back to IE 6 under Win XP Pro and looked again. The thin lines I saw in Netscape were wide compared with what exceedingly close examination was able to barely discern in IE. I doubt that the lines are more than 2 pixels high. With some persistence and a steady hand I was able to select the "empty" lines and add multiple attachments.

So, technically, it works.  In practical fact, it doesn't because it is neither discoverable nor usable by a person of ordinary insight (not to mention eyesight) and motivation.

Does what I finally was able to barely see comport with your experience of multi-attachment pools?  From the casual way you talked about "just click" on an empty row in the pool, I suspect your rows are a bit wider.  Is there a super-secret trick to accomplishing that?

Many thanks!
Doug

Doug,

This is exactly what happens when you do not select another row in the pool
before clicking the Add button.  You have to click the row below the file
column header (far left column)-clicking under any other column will not
allow selection of the row.  The individual row permissions must be set as
well as the overall attachment pool.  Since you are not selecting a
different row in the pool, it prompts to see whether you want to replace the
existing file.

It doesn't sound like anything is wrong.  You need to verify the permissions
for each row of the pool, make sure you are opening the page in submit mode,
and make sure you are selecting the row beneath the file column header
before clicking the add button.  Unless it's one of these things, I'm not
sure what to tell you since it should work.  If it's working for the first
row, you've confirmed it works as expected so my guess would be the
additional rows in the pool do not have the proper permissions or you are
not clicking in the pool under the proper header.

Craig
