A feature I added to a custom app - which can be added to OTB too is to have a configurable Audit feature..

 

What I had done is that at any point of time, using a configuration form that I had in a data configuration application for a custom application I had built, which would allow a user to pick up any main data form from the application, from a drop down list, and then pick any data field from that form from another drop down list, and audit that field from that time onwards and display the audited information on a table field.

 

When that field was selected, a Filter Guide running on the main application table, would check for changes in the fields that are picked up for auditing and pust that to the audit table.

 

Your workflow for this to happen would have to be dynamic, where a temp field would build the necessary run if condition to be used by the a filter that is within this filter guide, and have this filter guide loop over the configuration table, to see what fields must be audited and when it finds a match in the current table, it pushes this info to the audit data table..

 

Worked pretty good for me..
