Help removing item from list

Title: Help removing item from list

** I have created workflow so my users can add themselves to a list of skills, as they add one a set fields AL adds it to a character field.  My problem is when they want to delete one of the skills, I can’t figure out how to pick it out of the list and ‘erase it’.  Has anyone done this that could help me out?
