If the view field points to an html form, the user can enter information in the html form a perform a post operation using a button on the html form.
As for mapping data into a form in a view field, I do not know of a way other than the first method listed above.
The new data visualization fields do handle events and data passing between a view field and the remedy form, but require some programming.
