Thanks for the info, Michael.
So we're supposed to believe that the 7.0 patches will be
successfully applyable to the 7.0.1 version...why? I suppose we
could draw confidence from the string of soundly constructed and
flawlessly executing installers for the CMDB and its various patches...if
there was one.
Someone in charge of releases ain't doing a very good job,
that's for darn sure. BMC better deal with it before the next RUG, or
they're going to have a ****storm to deal with. It isn't fair to Support
to have to clean up the mess and it is terrible in terms of developing - and
maintaining - customer confidence. It's hard enough for some shops to
keep fighting to keep Remedy from being replaced, having to explain gaffes like
this make it that much harder.

Subject: Alert: ITSM 7.0.01 is not an upgrade to
7.0.00!
**
Good Evening ARSList:
Thought I'd alert the list to some information I just received from
Remedy Support about the ITSM 7.0.01 maintenance release.
According to Remedy Support, ITSM 7.0.01 is actually the same
code as 7.0.00, except for a couple minor fixes to the installer. Why
on earth would BMC release an installer fix as a maintenance release is
beyond me but this appears to address why Chris is having so
many problems trying to do an upgrade, as there is nothing to
upgrade. It also means that you still have to apply all the 7.0.00 patches
to a fresh 7.0.01 install.
This has been the most bizarre release I think I've ever seen and is
definitely not how things used to be run in the past. It also makes me
wonder when we'll now see all the planned ITSM 7.x updates, w/ patch
roll-ups, mentioned during UserWorld, as I thought they were targeted for
this release.
Anyway, here is the note from Support...
+++++++++++++++
Here is the latest information that I just got minutes ago regarding
this:
The ITSM 7.0.01 media is a re-release of the same application, it is not a
later or different application.
There is no functional difference between the ITSM 7.0.00 and 7.0.01 releases
of the application - the only change was in the installer (RIK) so that it will
properly recognize later versions of applications. For example, when you install
ITSM 7.0.00, it will complain about an incorrect version of the application if
your version of Incident Management is version 7.0 patch 001. There was also a
problem installing the applications on AIX as a non-root user. These two issues
are fixed in the ITSM 7.0.01 media.
The ITSM 7.0.01 media is now the shipping version - it replaces the ITSM
7.0.00 media - it is not a different version and there is no need to upgrade
between them.
The documentation has not been updated in version 7.0.01.
The patches are listed for version 7.0.00, which is the same version as
7.0.01 - so these patches can be applied for customers who installed from the
7.0.00 media or from the 7.0.01 media.
The upgrade path from ITSM 6.0 applications - and all defects and new
features - will be released in a subsequent release of the application.
