Thank you Mr. Strauss,
I did try this sequence and recieved the same upgrade error. But upon viewing the SQL install log, it shows the following Errors regarding T373 which I believe is 'AR System Email Mailbox Configuration'.
I have forwarded these results to Remedy Support.
Any course of action on these? At the database level I assume?

I have tried running the entire process without upgrading to SQL 2005 server and I recieve the same error whether it's ARS 5.x, 6.x or 7.x. But conversely, I havent found anyone who's sucessfully performed this 5.x to 7.x migration/uprgade on MS SQL.

** Thanks Tony,
I was thinking along the same lines. However, ARS 5.x isn't compatible
with SQL 2005 as far as I know. The actual database restore is backwards
compatible but will this cause an issue with the SQL Server itself?

Install ARS 5x on upgrade system
Do database restore from current -> upgrade
Do sp_changedbowner
Start ARS 5.x on upgrade.
Try clients. If everything works identical to current system proceed.
Run 7.0 installer on upgrade, and choose the upgrade option
Try your v7 clients on upgrade.

Migration/Uprage from 5.01.02 to 7.01 (cant connect to Remedy with
clients)
**
Current Production System: Windows 2000 Server SP4 / SQL 2000 / ARS
5.01.02
Upgrade Production System: Windows 2003 Server SP1 / SQL 2005 / ARS
7.01.02
Installed ARS 7.01.02 on 'Upgrade System' with defaults.
Logged onto 'Upgrade System' Demo account with both User & Admin clients.
Shutdown ARS 7.01.02 processes on 'Upradge System'
Restored SQL 2000 backup from 'Current System' with corrected paths for
'Upgrade System' database & log file.
Ran query against restored database EXEC sp_changedbowner 'ARAdmin',
'true' to restore ARAdmin as dbo.
Started ARS 7.01.02 processes on 'Upgrade System'
User and Admin client cannot access ARS on 'Upgrade System'
Ran ARS 7.01.02 install again selecting upgrade.
Recieved the following:
****->[ERROR]: AR System Server Database upgrade error. Changes to the
original database may have been commited during this process which would
result in the need to recover data from your database backup. Resolve the
problem that caused the error (Check the installation logfile and contact
Technical Support if necessary).
****->[ERROR]: Failed to complete AR Server installation.
Any ideas?
