I think there is confusion caused by there now being

the ITSM suite version,

the CMDB version

the ARSystem version

and of course the midtier version that doesn’t

always have to match the ARSystem version

The Version 7 of the application suite is very different to ITSM6

CMDB2.0’s CDM is very different to CMDB1.1

CMDB2.0 requires ARSystem 7, it’s CDM can run on CMDB1.1

I did an upgrade of my ITSM 6 box from ARS 6.3 to ARS 7.0 when 7.0 first came out, and noticed no problems with functionality.  It does add some system forms, but nothing that affected the function of the applications from what I saw.

It would be worth the upgrade if you use the Mid-Tier; the 7.0 MT is better and faster than the 6.3.

I've been wondering about this as well.  My understanding is that ARS
7.x uses completely different base forms, so while I do know that ITSM
6.0 does work on 7.x, I'm sticking with ARS 6.3 until I've had a chance
to play with 7 on a development system.

Subject: ARS 7.0.1 and ITSM 6.0

Hi,

We were wondering if this would be a good match, ARS
7.0.1 and ITSM 6.  We want to upgrade to the latest version of ARS,
however, we think that ITSM 6.0 is very well suited for us.  The new
ITSM 7 would be too much of a learning curve.  What are the Pros and
Cons of this?

Currently on ARS 6.0 and ITSM 6.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
E.
