Sorry to dredge this back up from last week...but I've been working on
this nonstop, and I still can't make a new record imported to
BMC:BMC_ComputerSystem_ show up on a search of AST:ComputerSystem.

It appears to hinge on the creation of the Instance ID, which is a
system-generated field. If I take a valid record and modify the
Instance ID by a character or two, it won't recognize the new Instance
ID I've created. But I can delete old records at the database level and
re-import them as long as the Instance ID is valid.

How does Remedy know which ones it created and which ones I create? Is
there some magic formula? I need to import 44,000 records from a 4.0
Remedy system, and I seem to recall these unique IDs were introduced in
6.x...

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer....

** You say:
"So in order to import records to AST:ComputerSystem, I imported records
to both BMC:BMC_ComputerSystem_ and BMC:BMC_AssetBase with matching
Instance IDs."

Do you mean you actually import into each separately? I have not done
this in a while but I remember only having to import records into
BMC:BMC_ComputerSystem_ which in turn created the BMC:BMC_AssetBase.
Could this be the problem?

Off the top of my head, I believe the ClassId for the imported
records must
match the ClassId for the class in SHR:SchemaNames . . . if you
look at the
ClassID of the records that you manually created you will notice
that it is
the same for each record. You will need to add the ClassID field
and it's
hard coded value to your import (or create workflow to do a
lookup on
        import).

Subject: Query does not show existing records

        Hello, Listers,

Overview:I have imported a number of test records into
AST:ComputerSystem; however, when I perform an unqualified
search on the
        form, no records are retrieved.

Details:If I create new records from AST:ComputerSystem, those
records
are retrieved, but not my imported records. I have run logging
on both
        the submit and the query.

AST:ComputerSystem is an inner join of BMC:BMC_ComputerSystem on
itself.
BMC:BMC_ComputerSystem is an inner join of
BMC:BMC_ComputerSystem_ with
        BMC:BMC_AssetBase.

So in order to import records to AST:ComputerSystem, I imported
records
to both BMC:BMC_ComputerSystem_ and BMC:BMC_AssetBase with
matching
Instance IDs. I can see the records exist in AST:ComputerSystem
using a
SQL select statement, but they don't appear in the Remedy query.
        (select InstanceID from AST_ComputerSystem)

Does anyone have an idea what I'm doing wrong?
