Most Barcode readers would dump a CSV/text file on your machine once you 'cradle' them. To get this info into Remedy, you would need a small app that can automatically read this csv and push the data into an Asset form. This is also usually available with the Barcode solution provider...

You can then build workflow to:
1. Create an asset in Remedy whenever this is a new scan.
2. Update the status/location of the asset when it gets scanned again.
etc....

Subject: Asset Scanning solutions for Remedy
Date: Fri, 8 Dec 2006 11:21:06 -0500

Our management here has raised more and more concern regarding
accurately tracking assets in our enterprise.
We are starting to look at ways of scanning our asset tags and are
trying to find ways of getting an interface so that the scanned
information can update our Remedy Asset Management database.

Does anyone recommend certain BMC partners or companies that sell Asset
scanning solutions that can easily integrate with Remedy?

We are on ARS 6.3 Patch 16 and ITSM 5.6 with Asset Management 5.6.

Thanks
