Robert,

IMHO, the "ARS Home directory" (for the clients) should be viewed
(mostly) as just a temp directory. It should be in the local host
where all users can write to it. (Well, at least for the "Default
user" as configured by the Remedy clients in the Registry.)

The only minor concern here is that the users can "stomp on" each
others local cache for Reports, Macros, etc. This is not a real
concern if the users are using a preference server, but might be an
issue for any user who does not use a preference server. ( In theory,
the users cache is pushed to the preference server on logout and
pulled back down on login for each user.)

So, when you install the UT, set the Home dir to a local temp dir that
you know will exist on all windows PC's the users users) and you
should be ok.(Example: c:\temp, c:\windows\temp or some other location
of your choice ) Keep in mind that ALL users on that host needs write
access to the dir.

There is also another rub to a "shared Home dir" too. If user A
changes the ar file (located in the Home dir, and lists one or more
ARS servers to connect to) then any user using that host after A will
be using the same ar file. UNLESS the other users use a preference
server. If that is true then the later users will get their list of
ARS servers from their preference server data and the local ar file
will be ignored. ( But they will still need write access to the Home
dir for cache purposes during the UT session.)

HTH. ( I am sure it is all clear as mud however.)

Hey guys, this one was handed down by my IT dept here at the office. When
installing Remedy User under Administrator in Windows, is there a way to
setup the server configuration for Remedy User along with their user
directory so that the user doesn't have to input the server location?

I know that Remedy User stores it's profile information in the "Profile"
directory of the windows box (e.g: C:\Documents and
Settings\username.machine\Application Data\AR System\HOME)
just wondering if they couldn't build a default profile or something that
Remedy User could use.

It seems Remedy User doesn't support their settings for all users of the
machine, just the user who install's it. Is this correct?
