Brian, If I'm being honest....it doesn't look like the two things are actually from the same functions. The one in the first one looks like it could be from a setfield....but not likely from a table, because as you indicated...it would have the columns listed. The second one, from 9.1, looks like an SQL that would be used in a search menu...also, not a table....
