I too stumped Remedy Support a couple weeks back with my flashboards not
showing up. They were unable to help but this is what I did that ended
up fixing my problem...maybe it will work for you.

Go to the form in the admin tool that has the flashboard on it. Select
the flashboard and click on flashboard properties. If it doesn't say
CURRENT SERVER, select that option instead of a specific server name
then you will need to reselect your flashboard object.

Hope that helps.

Subject: Re: MidTier 6.3 Requirements

Thanks for the response Michelle, I'll CC this to the list as well so
others may see.

1. What patch level is your ARS 6.3 server? Mid-Tier 6.3? There were
known issues with Flashboards that were fixed in patch 5 and above.

We are running ARS 6.3 patch 18, Mid-Tier 6.3 no patch (which
I'm trying to fix right now). One of the issues the BMC CSR mentioned
to me.

2. Is the Flashboard Server service running?

I'm not sure of this. I don't know what the service name for
the Flashboard Server to run. We're pretty new to the Flashboards as we
have just started to use them. Any info would be useful.

3. Is this a new install? Meaning have the FB's ever displayed before
in either the Mid-Tier or the User Tool?

        See above.

4. What type of error messages appear in place of the Flashboards?

Currently, we get an ARERR [3624] Cannot login to the AR System
server.

5. Do you have a full Flashboard server license?

We have 5 licenses for flashboards apparently.. I don't know how
the flashboard licenses work, but I'm guessing we can have 5 people look
at the flashboards simultaneously.

I've been working with a CSR for over a day now.. nice to know I've got
him stumped on our problem lol. He did point out that we were running
too new versions of Java and Tomcat, and that the mid-tier hasn't been
patched. All of this could be our problem. I'm getting all that taken
care of now and see where I'm at afterwards.

Hi, Bob:

Not sure if you received my email or not. It looks like David Easter
sent the same thing.

Some other things that I am sure you've checked:

1. What patch level is your ARS 6.3 server? Mid-Tier 6.3? There were
known issues with Flashboards that were fixed in patch 5 and above.

2. Is the Flashboard Server service running?

3. Is this a new install? Meaning have the FB's ever displayed before
in either the Mid-Tier or the User Tool?

4. What type of error messages appear in place of the Flashboards?

5. Do you have a full Flashboard server license?

Thanks,

Michelle

Subject: RE: MidTier 6.3 Requirements

Hi, Robert:

I will try to address both questions.

1. For the compatibility, check the matrix...However, I think I've
heard on the list before that the Java 1.4.2._xx versions seem to work
better than 1.5. As a matter of fact the notes at the bottom of the
matrix show that Java 1.5 is NOT supported.

(5) Java 1.5 not supported

2. For the FB issue not displaying in the User Tool, make sure your
Default Web Path found on the Advanced tab of Server Information in the
Admin Tool has your Mid-Tier server name and arsys. i.e.

Subject: MidTier 6.3 Requirements

**

I'm trying to find this in the documentation, but having no luck. I'm
wondering the requirements of running Mid-Tier 6.3?

Right now we have Tomcat 5.5 and Java 1.5. We're currently trying to
debug why flashboards will not display in Remedy User and in the
Mid-Tier. The support personnel mentioned that these were incompatible
for Remedy Mid-Tier 6.3.

What would be the right versions to install or does it matter?
