Hey' remember NAFTA? We need to spread the wealth :) I personally thought it was odd to have it on a "religious holiday", but conferences can be so difficult to schedule, even years in advance... However I can get over the fact that it is a holiday of sorts. But just think of the fun we will all have together :) [regardless of location or date] Honestly, I think it is great they did the announcement early enough for proper planning and scheduling... I remember one of the "dark years" where there was only like 3 months notice (or something like that).
If management's only concern is the "location" they do not understand the full benefit of these conferences. The training before, the heads up on product direction, the evening with engineering (is worth the price alone!), the product strategies, the best practices, and not to mention the "network of other ARS'ers" that you develop by attending. My company considers this conference as part of my core "yearly educational budget", along with the other seminars and conferences I attend (about 3 to 4 annually)... Of course with that said a quick comparison of simple flight costs to YVR is kind-of-funny (no make that sad). -All in USD- From MUC (Munich) ~$900; from NRT (Tokyo) ~$900; from SFO ~$500; from ORD ~$600... (Domestic travel costs make me cry sometimes :( the miles to $ just does not equate logically!) My mission when I attend is to pick the best of everything and consider all other internal projects/etc, and the write-up the "This is our next year roadmap"... Provide everyone the PDF's, and we are good to go so to say. My rule is to book as soon as they open up registration! Get the early registration discount & hotel & airfare a lot cheaper that way :) Thanks-n-advance; HDT Platform Incident / Problem Manager & Architect Robert Molenda IT OS PA Tel: +1 408 501 6310 Fax: +1 408 501 2410 Mobile: +1 408 472 8097 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Quality begins with your actions. -----Original Message----- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Pierson, Shawn Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2007 8:13 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: User World 2007 Halloween isn't a big deal, but the fact that it's being held out of the country is. I'd like to go, but the fact that it's in Canada is going to make it even more difficult to convince the management of the value of the User World. -----Original Message----- From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Andy Wilkerson Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2007 9:47 AM To: [email protected] Subject: User World 2007 Maybe it's been brought up before? What are folks opinion about User World being help on and around Halloween this year? I sent a note to BMC and the response was as follows: "We felt that the draw of the Vancouver area and the content we will be able to offer in late October was worth the sacrifice of missing Halloween at home". It's nice to know that they think that time with them is more important than time with the family at home. So, just curious, what does everyone else think? cheers Andy ________________________________________________________________________ _______ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org ARSlist:"Where the Answers Are" The information in this e-mail, and any files transmitted with it, is intended for the exclusive use of the recipient(s) to which it is addressed and may contain confidential, proprietary or privileged information.
