I bet you're right about that, Roger. I agree that they didn't anticipate
that so many customers would see ITSM 7 and say "mmmm...not so much - we'll
stick with v6." If they had asked the customers or consultants, we could
have told them that would happen.

More BMC arrogance, in thinking they knew how to deal with the Remedy
customer base?

**
I think it is due to the fact that since they decided to re-design the whole
thing and did not anticipate having it work with 6 that they left out
datapoints and workflow logic that 6 uses and now they have to re-invent the
wheel. I would think that the Remedy Sales holdovers would have suggested
that CMDB 2 work with ITSM 6 to ease the transition however we all know that
there are very few legacy Remedy Sales staff left.

I know what they did, Roger. I'm just not sure why it's taking so long for
them to tell us how to do the conversion/mapping.

They did a complete re-design of the data structure and changed some form
names as well as adding BMC_People. Now they have to come up with a way
that ITSM 6 can work with CMDB 2.0.X

It certainly does seem to be taking an inordinate amount of time. It's been
months since it was most recently promised. How long does it take to create
export/import maps and procedures for two sets of data tables for products
which they created? I'm no longer believing anything I'm told on this until
I see it.

At UserWorld, several of us were told the same thing - that is "BMC is
taking the necessary steps to officially enable the use of ITSM 6.0 with
CMDB 2.0.1". It was quite a popular topic at the time, but BUW was around 5
- 6 months ago right? It has been in progress for an incredibly long time
now......

CMDB 2.0 with ITSM 6.0 is not officially supported. As mentioned, BMC is
currently taking the necessary steps to officially enable the use of ITSM
6.0 with CMDB 2.0.1. I do not have an expected date for when this will be
completed - only the information that it is currently in progress.

I have not seen anything either from BMC Support or on the list officially
supporting it.
