Dear Listers,
We are facing a strange problem with the Crystal Report during its function
call.
On the Crystal file we have a function StringToCode39 that makes the
conversion so we can use the barcode fonts to print the barcode itself.
The error does not happen on the machine that has the Crystal Developer
(version 7.0.0) installed, but on all the other machines.
We tried with many different User versions but no success.
The error is:
Error in formula <CODEBAR39>.
'StringToCode39({SGOL_GS_RoteiroOrdemServico.GSOSRCodRot})
'
The remaining text does not appear to be part of the formula
Important to mention that the function StringToCode39 is part of the Crystal
and we don't use anything special to render the barcode on the Crystal
Developer. The only thing external we use is a freeware barcode font,
installed on the machine. We also tested with this font installed on the
other machines.
Perhaps this function is not supported by the Crystal runtime that comes
with the User.
We will greatly appreciate any help.

Just use an Active Link to set the field to Read Only via the 'Change
Field' Action if the user is not in one of the groups that should be
able to read it.
By default, set the field to read only, and have the active link set it
to read/write if the person is in the group, this way if the active link
fails to fire (yes, I've seen this happen), then you are still okay.
Additionally, you might want to add a filter, for security reasons, that
checks the TR value of that field and the permissions of the user so
that you can throw up an error if someone does manage to modify the
field that shouldn't be able to.

Subject: How to make a field read only MODIFY
Ok I thought I had this done today but. I am burnt out today.
What I am trying to do is make a field read only for everyone except the
Help Desk and managers during modify.
So this will keep the fields read/write during submit and search.
Would it make more sense to just have an error message show when someone
not in these groups trying to make a change?
The reason I have to do this is we have had some people changing the
request to them self's when they think they will get a bad survey.
Thanks
Dan Caissie
