I don't see this behavior on 7.0.01 unpatched or patch 001
(arserver/user/midtier). I am able to specify in the view field properties
whether or not I want a scroll bar to show in the event of overflow. One
slight annoyance I observed is that if the scroll bar property is set to
auto show based on content size, the interior bounds of the view field
accomodate for the size of the scroll bar whether it's present or not on the
midtier.

Hi all:

I've uncovered weird view field behavior that I wanted to throw out to
everyone to find out if anyone else has encountered the same frustration.

First, as I'm sure we all know, view fields behave a bit differently in
the midtier than they do in the client. In the midtier, if a view field
contains a URL, it paints itself with the border around it. On the other
hand, if it contains text or an HTML snippet it does not paint the border
around itself. Further, the view field is transparent.

Worse, the vertical scrollbar is missing. Thus if you have a view field
that's say, 400 points high, but your HTML snippet contains text that
requires 500 points, the text is not cut off and there is no vertical
scrollbar! Instead, the midtier just takes the liberty of extending the view
field an additional 100 points on your form…very possibly laying text over
your nicely positioned "OK" or "Cancel" buttons that you placed under the
area where the HTML text is supposed to stop.

Weird.

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions?

Thanks,

Norm
