That is the whole point of, and simplicity of, Claire's suggestion,

you could build that into it by having different dates etc. for the
different 

parts of the world. Instead of worrying about your Server's time (which I
usually set to GMT/UT anyway).

 

I haven't thought about how that would interact with business time
calculations

using that process/function and then doing the calculations if your server
is storing the date/times

in some local time zone.

 

For many applications isolating what times are used for display and
calculations and notifications

from a time arbitrarily set based on where your Server is makes a lot of
sense.

 

Thanks Claire, I think I have a use for that in the very near term future
