What is the application state?

Yeah, the groups are mapped and stuff. I assumed that if the groups
weren't mapped correctly the users wouldn't even be able to see the app
right?

When the message appears saying which field I can't write to I've
verified that the role I created has Change access to the field.

Is there a log file that might say "it failed to update THIS field but
we're actually going to tell you that it failed on THAT field"?

Thanks again!

Did you map a group to the role and did you check that the deployable
app state matches the state to which you mapped the group to the role?
