Are you going to be utilizing the Server Groups or just a shared db?

Also how will the users be referencing the server(s)?
i.e. Users currently reference the existing server thru an alias
"aliasA" which will be moved the LB.

We went from a single server to a 2 server w/LB environment (shared db
not Server Group) with almost no downtime (less than 1 hour).

1st... Make sure all users access the server thru a DNS alias (so this
can be moved to the LB without changing the client User Tool settings),
and depending on the LB a TCP port as well.

2nd... Add to the servers ar.conf
The "IP-Name: xxxxxxx" entries for the alias (Server Name
should be different from the Alias).
         The "Map-IP-Address: {LB IP} {Actual ARS IP}" entry

3rd... Add to the Hosts file on the server the LB alias as an alias for
the server
(We did this do that once a user is connected to a server they
stay on that server and don't loop back thru the LB multiple times)

Install the second server as a shared server and do #s 2 and 3 on it

Subject: Bringing Second App Server Online

**

We are planning to bring up our second application server in the next
few days. We will have an f5 load balancer in front of the app servers.
Does anyone have experience running in a single application server
environment ...then moving to a multiple application server environment?
I want to know how much downtime was involved as well as what issues you
ran into while performing the modification. I have read over the
documentation from BMC regarding this, and am getting different stories
on how to accomplish this, also attempted to contact BMC support, and
the two people I talked to provided no insight, they simply referred me
to the same document.

We have both the mid-tier and application running on the same box. Sun
Solaris 9, ARS 6.3.
