If the time zones are not configured correctly, you may see dates that are
prior to the epoch, with the offset between your time and GMT being the
difference.

Hey Tyra,

Have you had any problems with Remedy ARS and the UNIX Epoch?  Solaris
stores the time/date as the number of seconds since midnight on January 1st,
1970 (the "epoch"), or 01/01/1970 00:00:00, and that's what Remedy uses to
calculate dates and times.  For example, we're seeing some problems in our
employee table when an employee's hire date is prior to the epoch, so that
date filed is considered an invalid value.  Dates after the start of
1/1/1970 are okay.
