Thanks John!

This was a brand new install of Java (the server was recently reimaged).
I got the error when I installed the MidTier (that it could not find the
JDK path), but then just clicked OK and the Mid Tier installed just
fine. I did put a ticket into BMC though, and they are the ones that
gave me this link:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6520670
<http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6520670>

Seems like everything else seems to work though, I just got the error
and ignored it. But I will change my registry Key

HKLM/Software/JavaSoft/Java Development Kit/1.5/JavaHome from "1" to the
path of my JDK just in case....

Lisa

Lisa,
If you didn't remove the earlier version of your JDK the system will use
that instead of the Java 5. This drove me batty until I got that KB
information from Remedy Support.

What's weird is that it still works right? Besides getting this error
message, does anyone know if there any other problems with using Java
1.5.11 with Mid Tier 7.0.1? I was still able to install it and use it
without any problems....

We installed Mid Tier 7.0.1 Patch 001 on Windows Server 2003.

David,

I would like you to know that MT 7.01 will not install without
modifications on Jave 1.5.11. I have heard from support that certain
war files have to be replaced to make MT 7.01 install with this version.
If you try and install MT 7.01 with Java 1.5.11 you receive an error
which states that the installer can not find a compatible Java JDK.

This occured will installing MT 7.01 on a Windows 2000 server.

Thanks

Kelly Gatewood

6.3 supports Java 1.4.2x.
7.0.x supports Java 1.4.2x and 1.5x (5.0x).
No current version supports Java 6.0, though it's currently planned for
the next release of AR System.

Does anyone have a copy of the compatibility matrix for both 6.3 and 7.0
for the versions of the JDK that can run on the mid-tier? Since BMC's
site is down I'm unable to verify that the updates our server team have
installed are compatible with the Mid-Tier.

They gave us Java 6 (1.6.0 I believe), which seems to be incompatible
with Remedy, and when I downgraded to 1.5.11, it also appears to be
incompatible. They really want to run version 6 since it's the current
one, but I know Remedy tends to be a few versions behind on the JRE.

Thanks,

Shawn Pierson
