Sorry, I chuckled when I was reading through the defect list on the supportweb site. The descriptions are so short and undescriptive that they are basically meaningless, not to mention the fact that there seem to be duplicates of many of them; though I do not think internally they represent the same thing.
I guess I've come to terms with the fact that BMC is not going to make things any better than they have to and have accepted the fact that 'it is what it is'. They seem to be more interested in adjusting their bottom line through staff changes (layoffs, offshoring, etc.) to make stock holders happy with the numbers in their balance sheets than they are in imporoving their processes, products, and management practices (not specifically people management, but information, content, product lifecycles, development lifecycles, etc.). I heard a great story about Toyota on the radio the other day, and the person they interviewed was an ex-american car manufacturer employee. The one statement he made that really hit home, I think in this case too, is that every employee was always looking for a way to do something better, whatever it is in their job that they do; and their management was receptive to these types of ideas and took the information to the right people in the company to change whatever it is that needed to be changed to do it better/cheaper/faster. This really seems to be lacking in many companies, and ultimately, the ones who are proactive in 'doing things better' are going to be the ones that bubble to the top, while the competition will feed from their scraps.
