To add to Susan's inputs, I would risk only using the User, notification and import clients from an unsupported platform as these would only mean you might have problems viewing or writing data.
Using the Admin client might be more fatal if used from an unsupported clients as you never know if it would cause corruption of the object(s) you work with.
